Job Requirements for Construction Estimator Position
- Experience in civil construction estimating, particularly in roading or transport infrastructure
- Background in civil engineering or quantity surveying
- Familiarity with New Zealand construction standards and methodologies
- Proficiency in MS Project and willingness to learn CATS estimating software
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities for Construction Estimator Position
- Plan, manage, and prepare high-quality tender bids and proposals
- Ensure all submissions align with internal estimating procedures and client KPIs
- Collaborate with project managers and assist in programming work
- Conduct occasional site visits to gather accurate project information
- Liaise with clients, partners, and internal teams to ensure clarity and accuracy in proposals
- Support capital works delivery for clients such as Whangarei District Council, Far North District Council, and private sector partners
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in tender negotiations as needed
- Monitor cost data and historical pricing for accuracy in estimates
- Provide technical support to the broader project and planning teams
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and technologies
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in estimating and tender processes
